Draft 2026 Remediation Process Guide
Background
The Remediation Process Guide (RPG) is technical guidance providing the framework for regulated companies to demonstrate they are effectively anticipating, preventing, managing and mitigating the adverse effects of contamination related to their facilities, along with how to demonstrate remediation of contamination. The RPG explains the CER’s remediation process and reporting requirements, engagement requirements, and expectations to progress contaminated sites toward remediation.
Public Comment Review Period
The CER periodically updates the RPG as part of our commitment to continuous regulatory improvement and oversight. We are looking for your feedback on the Draft 2026 RPG during the public comment review period from 6 July to 5 October, 2026.
Provide comments by email to RPG-GPR_review@cer-rec.gc.ca. All comments will be reviewed by the CER and considered as part of the guidance update process. Written submissions will be addressed and posted on this Dialogue page. The final 2026 RPG is anticipated to be released in late 2026.
